M.Tech.

Design of modern electrical/electronic systems requires engineers to have specialized skills in one subdiscipline, but at the same time requires a firm footing in one or more related domains.  A modern-day system is designed by hundreds of engineers, each of who is super-specialized in a small domain. However, to be able to truly make system-level optimizations and verify the system’s behavior, there is a need for cross-functional individual contributors.  Bachelor’s degrees in the country offer foundational knowledge in many subdisciplines; specialization is offered by Master’s programs.  Yet, there are few programs that offer the combinations mentioned above.

The M. Tech in EECE programme at IIT Dharwad provides students with opportunities to gain a breadth of expertise spanning various  domains while also providing students with flexibility of choosing subjects in a variety of areas according to their interest.

M.Tech. (Regular):

A two-year course-work based M. Tech that includes one year of course work and one year of Project work.
See all Program Details and
the M.Tech Admissions Portal.

M.Tech. (Research):

A research based M. Tech that includes one semester of course work and typically 1.5-2 years of Research.
Check out the brochure and details on the
M.Tech (Research) Admissions Portal.

The M.Tech program at IIT Dharwad is offered under three specialisations:

  • Microelectronics and VLSI
  • Communication, Signal Processing and ML (CSPML)
  • Power electronics and Power systems (PEPS)

Programs Working Professionals, Executives, and Part-time Programs:

The above programs have the option of part-time mode called “External Registration” Category. Special provisions apply to college teachers (QIP Program), employees of specific government organisations (DRDO, Armed Forces, PSUs, etc) and employees of private companies.
